In 2024, Brazil remembers the 150th anniversary of Italian immigration. To celebrate the date, an exhibition is coming to São Paulo dedicated to the history of this country, whose culture has influenced so much of our own! We’re talking about ‘MOSAICO. Italic code of a timeless art’, which provides a panorama of Italy since the Roman Empire through its art, revealing the customs that characterize its people.
The immersive and itinerant exhibition has already been to several countries and now arrives at the MIS Experience, where it will be on show from June 22 to August 18. Admission is free on Tuesdays. On the other days, tickets start at R$5 (half-price) and are available from the museum’s website or ticket office.
‘MOSAIC. Italic code of a timeless art’ brings the heritage of Italian art to São Paulo
The exhibition seeks to provide a panorama of the European country, taking a multimedia journey through its more than two thousand years of history. All this through one of its great cultural assets: the mosaic.
Regions from the north to the south of Italy come together in an exciting journey that brings together underwater footage, drones, graphic animations and other unseen audiovisual content, revealing together the treasures of Italian history.
The journey begins in Rome, with mosaics from the Capitoline Museums and medieval basilicas. From there he moves on to Pompeii, where thousands of fragments from the House of the Faun give an imaginary account of the Battle of Isso. From there, the exhibition passes through Aquileia, Ravenna, Sicily and the Baia Underwater Archaeological Park, showing the habits of the ancient Romans and their culture.
The exhibition is on the mezzanine floor of the MIS and will be available to visit from Tuesday to Sunday. More information on the MIS Experience website.
