Just 30 minutes from the capital of São Paulo, Thermas da Mata, in Cotia, is certainly a great option for anyone who wants to enjoy a family vacation and relax in a pool this winter.
With easy access via the Raposo Tavares Highway, the water park makes for a convenient day trip for those living in São Paulo or the Greater São Paulo area. That’s why the venue is a favorite for school, church, and corporate field trips when it comes to group outings.
With a facility spanning approximately 200,000 square meters, Thermas da Mata lives up to its name: it’s surrounded by the Atlantic Forest. This allows you to completely escape the chaotic routine and simply enjoy nature.
During this peak vacation season, there’s a regular lineup of themed parades, shows, and cultural events taking place throughout the day at the park. Plus, the little ones get special attention with plenty of children’s activities. In other words, it’s fun for the whole family!
What can you expect from your experience at Thermas da Mata?

As the first thermal spa in São Paulo to bring hot springs to the region, Thermas da Mata opened in 2019. Its mission is to provide year-round fun, including now during the winter.
With pools heated up to 36 °C, the facility was designed to offer the amenities of a resort and the convenience of a water park for a one-day visit.
In terms of attractions, Thermas is divided into two areas: the more tranquil ones, such as Praia da Mata, with a heated wave pool and a strip of white sand that simulates an artificial beach.
And for those looking for a bit of adrenaline, the other area features attractions like the zip line, Brabus, and Cyclone! These are water slide complexes that can reach heights of up to 20 meters, along with mat slides on a 10-meter structure.
As for the children’s areas, they feature play spaces with the “Thermalucos” characters, as well as Vila da Mata, Beach Kids, and Vale das Águas.
Although it’s still a relatively new attraction in the metropolitan area, Thermas continues to upgrade its facilities and introduce even more new features.
Aqualume, the new attraction at Thermas da Mata

In October of this year, the park plans to open Aqualume, a new area spanning more than 2,000 square meters. It will function as a themed universe, designed to operate in any weather conditions, fully covered to offer greater comfort.
The facility can accommodate up to 800 people and features a playground for children, three water slides, and a 300-square-meter pool.
In addition, it will feature a 130-meter lazy river, a stage with lighting, and a themed food court.
Be sure to plan a visit!
Generally, Thermas da Mata is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets start at R$29.90 and are available at the on-site ticket office or online. There are even special deals for those who purchase tickets in advance on the website, so be sure to plan ahead!
Finally, the park is located at Estrada do Morro Grande, 3000, in the Jardim Ísis neighborhood of Cotia, with access via the Raposo Tavares Highway (km 36).
