You’ve surely heard of the “crazy race,” but have you ever imagined experiencing it right here in São Paulo? In just over two weeks, Avenida Pompeia will be transformed into a racecourse for the Red Bull Downhill 2026 Geek Edition. On November 15, the city will welcome 39 teams from across Brazil for a downhill race filled with themed obstacles, driving vehicles straight out of pop culture.
Admission to the Red Bull go-kart race is free, and ticket pickup for the general public begins today, October 28. Be sure to secure your spot and plan to arrive early on the day of the event, as access to the venue is subject to capacity!
How does Red Bull Downhill work?
Held in cities around the world, Red Bull’s “crazy race” brings together the country’s most creative drivers. Each team consists of up to five members over the age of eighteen and builds its own car entirely by hand. They tackle the hill without an engine, using only brakes, and must complete the course without breaking or overturning the vehicle.
In addition to the stopwatch, the judges evaluate the creativity of the designs and the team’s performance at the starting line. In the Geek Edition, competitors transform references from video games, anime, movies, TV shows, and comics into designs full of personality. Plus, the course features themed obstacles that make the descent even more unpredictable (and exciting for the audience!).
This will be the ninth national edition of the competition, which has already held more than 150 races around the world. In São Paulo, the Red Bull go-kart race draws a loyal crowd: in 2024, the event brought 45,000 people to the city’s streets!
