Six months after its inauguration, Line 17-Ouro is still disrupting daily life in Brooklin. Starting this Wednesday, the 16th, construction work on the branch line will result in the closure of Pitu Street, between Arizona Street and Jornalista Roberto Marinho Avenue.
According to the Traffic Engineering Company (CET), the closure is expected to last 30 days, until October 16. For those traveling through the area, the recommendation is to plan your route in advance and consider alternative routes during the construction period. Pitu Street blocked: see the detours
Just over 100 meters long and spanning only one block, Pitu Street is located in Brooklin, near the Vila Cordeiro station. The City Hall’s official statement indicates that the road closure is necessary for construction work on Line 17-Ouro of the Monorail, without specifying what types of work will take place at the site.
The CET will monitor local traffic conditions throughout the closure period. However, to make things easier, the agency has already announced two possible alternatives for those driving in the area:
- Coming from Arizona Street: continue straight, turn right onto California Street, and take Jornalista Roberto Marinho Avenue;
- Coming from Avenida Jornalista Roberto Marinho: continue straight ahead, turn right onto Rua Ribeiro do Vale, and then turn onto Rua Arizona.

Line 17-Ouro continues to operate with limited service
Since its inauguration on March 31, 2026, Line 17-Ouro has been operating under an assisted service model. At this stage, the monorail serves the public Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., only on the section between the Congonhas Airport and Morumbi stations.
This initial model allows for testing and operational adjustments before the service is fully expanded. Full operation is expected to begin in October, when the line will run daily on a full-time schedule, from 4:40 a.m. to midnight.
Stretching 6.7 kilometers and featuring eight stations, the branch line is expected to transport approximately 100,000 passengers per day at full capacity. Check out this article for the best attractions to explore along Line 17-Gold!
