Located 1h40 away from São Paulo, Ibiúna is the ideal destination for those who enjoy adventures in the middle of nature. The tourist resort is in the Serra do Paranapiacaba region and is a closer option for those who enjoy tours such as the Alto Ribeira Tourist State Park, PETAR, but are looking for something closer to the capital.
What to do in Ibiúna?
In the urban area, it’s worth visiting the Chapel of São Sebastião and the Mother Church of Nossa Senhora das Dores, two of the city’s major landmarks. But Ibiúna really stands out for its exuberant nature and for being a must for off-road enthusiasts, whether by bike, jeep, motorcycle or horseback. The main route for these activities is the Estrada dos Antigos Carvoeiros.
Strong in ecotourism, the Jurupará State Park attracts visitors from various parts of São Paulo. The Itupararanga Reservoir and its little beaches are also worth a visit. Finally, don’t miss the Lost Parque das Pedras, for hiking and abseiling, and the Vargem do Salto waterfall for a swim.
Visit the Jurupará State Park
Located in Ibiúna, this attraction is just as interesting as PETAR and is an alternative closer to the capital. While the park in Alto do Ribeira is 5 hours away, you can reach Jurupará State Park in just 2 hours. In other words, you can do a round trip!
The great attraction of this park is that visitors can enjoy one of the largest protected areas of the Atlantic Forest in two ways: on foot or by bike, as the site has two cycle routes . There are more than 26,000 hectares to enjoy off-road excursions and appreciate the region’s fauna and flora.
The Jurupará State Park is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 9am to 4pm, and tickets start at R$19.
