Imagine having a beach right here in the capital? It sounds impossible, but it may become a reality in the future. This is because, this week, the project to build a “waterfront” in Parque Villa-Lobos was announced, which would bring the coastal air to São Paulo.
The plan is for the space to offer free beach tennis lessons and other sports, as well as a children’s area, gourmet space and even an exclusive beach club . Check out everything we know about the project below!
Villa-Lobos Park could have a waterfront by 2025
The proposal comes from Orla Brasil, which is spearheading other projects of this kind in Salvador, Recife and Balneário Camboriu. However, as the São Paulo capital has no sea, the proposal is to create a space where “the sand is the protagonist”, with decks and a promenade.
The project proposes a gourmet space with restaurants and areas for socializing. There would also be spaces for practicing sports, with free classes in 12 different disciplines. These include beach tennis, dance, volleyball, yoga, wrestling and more.
Water fountains will be present to refresh and enhance the beach feeling. At night, the Villa-Lobos Park waterfront will host happy hours and concerts.
Exclusive beach club for members
If the Parque Villa-Lobos beachfront comes to fruition, around 75% of the space will be available to the general public. The other 25% will be reserved for a members-only beach club .
As well as three sports courts, the exclusive space is expected to include leisure activities, a restaurant, mezzanine and rooftop.
