Located in Vila Guilherme, Parque do Trote is a benchmark for leisure and culture in São Paulo’s North Zone. With over 180,000 square meters of green area, the park offers a running track, playground, courts and spaces for contact with nature, attracting residents from all over the region.
In addition, in September, Parque do Trote will host another edition of Revelando SP. It will be the first time in seven years that the park has hosted the festival, after much mobilization by the residents of the North Zone. So, how about taking advantage of the news to learn about the history of Parque do Trote?

Do you know the history of Parque do Trote?
It all began in 1912, when merchant Guilherme Praun da Silva bought land to build the Vila Guilherme Equestrian Club. The space was allotted and gained stables, bleachers, jumping rings and even a riding arena.
After Praun’s death, his heirs sold the club to the Sociedade Paulista do Trote (SPT), which transformed it into its new headquarters. As a result, the venue began to host trotting races – a form of equestrianism that makes use of carts – as well as weddings and events. In other words, a great meeting place for the people of São Paulo at the time.
Over the years, however, trotting fell out of fashion and the hippodrome lost its status. The city council ended up expropriating the land and transforming it into Parque do Trote – a large green area with free leisure and entertainment for all.

Culture and tradition back in São Paulo’s North Zone
Parque do Trote is currently the only large green area in Vila Maria and Vila Guilherme. There, visitors will find attractions for all ages: a walking track, fitness equipment, barbecue pits and a sensory trail for the visually impaired.
But the attractions don’t stop there. On September 25, 26, 27 and 28, Parque do Trote will host another edition of the festival Revelando SP, celebrating the culture of São Paulo. It will be the first time the event has returned to the North Zone, after seven years in Água Branca Park. And admission is free!
In other words, Parque do Trote will soon be hosting musical performances, gastronomy and craft fairs from all regions of the state of São Paulo. See more details in this article and don’t miss this cultural event in one of the North Zone’s favorite parks!
