Stories and curiosities about the Morro do Elefante cable car
A pioneer in Brazil
Although it wasn’t the first cable car in Brazil, the Morro do Elefante cable car stood out at the time of its inauguration for bringing an innovative way of traveling. Instead of a cable car with cabins, like the ones in Rio de Janeiro, it was the first with chairs, offering visitors an even more exciting suspended ride.
After all, the seats are open, so you can contemplate the landscape in the open air. With the help of a safety bar to keep you calm throughout the ride, of course.
Walks in the heights
Campos do Jordão is 1628 meters above sea level, making it the highest city in Brazil. This makes the Morro do Elefante cable car the highest in Brazil in terms of altitude, offering an unmissable panoramic view of Capivari Park, where it is located.
The route is 550 meters long and has some inclined sections, giving the impression of flying over the landscape. If you’re not afraid of heights, why not stop by Campos and see it?
Latin America’s first mixed cable car
For those who don’t like the idea of flying over Campos do Jordão in a chair, that’s okay. In 2022, the Morro do Elefante cable car underwent a renovation that added enclosed cabins to the route and made it the first mixed cable car on the Latin American continent. In other words, if you’re afraid of heights, it might be a good idea to opt for this type of ride.
Cable car pet friendly
Finally, you can visit Morro do Elefante with your pet! The cable car has a “pet cabin”, an inclusive space where pet owners can enjoy the view with their pets. Pets must weigh up to 35 kilos and must be on leashes during the ride.
