Simba Safári is back in São Paulo, offering a unique adventure experience for children and adults! After being closed for 20 years, the space opens its doors with an innovative proposal, inspired by the iconic African safaris: a ride in open trucks through the animals’ habitat, completely immersing yourself in the wildlife.
In other words, the safari offers adventure and contact with nature in a unique way, without leaving the city of São Paulo! Check out all the details about the opening and find out how to get to know it below.

Do you remember Simba Safári?
The experience originally appeared in 1977, bringing a new concept to São Paulo: the “drive-thru safari”, where visitors follow a safe route in their own car to see animals such as lions, giraffes and zebras up close. The attraction soon became a hit with the public, receiving around 130,000 visitors a month.
In 2001, however, Simba closed its doors and gave way to Zoo Safari. This led to some changes in the route: large animals were moved indoors, for example. Until Zoo Safári closed its doors in 2023, giving way to a new chapter for São Paulo’s urban safari: a R$50 million renovation and the reopening under its original name.

Simba Safari now follows a similar model to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the USA. Visitors travel along the trails in open trucks that offer close contact with 300 animals from 40 different species.
The 4-kilometer route has trained guides, who share curiosities and information about the lions, hippos, buffaloes, maned wolves and other animals they meet along the way.
