The State Civil Defense Agency has issued a storm warning for São Paulo for this Friday (11) and Saturday (12) due to forecasts of heavy rain, thunderstorms, hail, and wind gusts of up to 100 km/h.
This situation calls for caution from São Paulo residents as they plan their weekend, since rain is expected to affect various regions of the state. The most severe storms are concentrated in the interior, although there is also a risk of thunderstorms and strong winds along the coast and in Greater São Paulo.

Storm warning in São Paulo: Which regions will be most affected?
The most severe alert is concentrated in the interior of São Paulo, particularly in the regions of Presidente Prudente, Marília, Itapeva, Registro, and Sorocaba. In these cities, the forecast calls for thunderstorms, hail, strong gusts, and even tornadoes in isolated areas. Therefore, residents should be aware of the risk of flooding and falling trees.
But the rain is not expected to be limited to these areas of São Paulo. Showers and strong winds may also reach the capital and the metropolitan area, as well as the Paraíba Valley, Campinas, and cities in the northern and central regions of the state.
Another area of concern is the Ribeira Valley, where wind gusts may range from 60 km/h to 100 km/h. Stay safe!

How to stay safe during the rains
In light of the weather alert, the first recommendations are to follow the official Civil Defense channels and avoid traveling during the highest-risk times. If you must go out, check road conditions and do not park next to trees or utility poles.
During storms, avoid walking through flooded streets, flash floods, or areas near bodies of water. If your home is located in a high-risk area, such as on a hillside or on land prone to landslides, leave the property and seek a safe location. This recommendation also applies to any property with cracks or fissures in the walls.
In case of emergencies, contact the following agencies:
- Civil Defense (199): Risk prevention and disaster response.
- Fire Department (193): Response to rescue and emergency situations.
- SAMU (192): For pre-hospital medical assistance.
