Last Friday, the 24th, São Paulo was surprised by a storm, recorded as the 3rd biggest in 64 years. The situation caused major damage in the city, including the flooding of the Jardim São Paulo-Ayrton Senna station, which serves Line 1-Azul of the metro. Unfortunately, the heavy rains in São Paulo are not over and the state is still under an orange alert for weather conditions.
The National Institute of Meteorology (InMet) predicts that this Monday, the 27th, the Greater São Paulo region will reach a maximum of 26ºC, winds of up to 4km/h and a 95% chance of rain. So it’s worth staying alert and avoiding areas prone to flooding.

Mobility in the capital:
The heavy rains in SP caused stoppages at the Tucuruvi, Parada Inglesa and Jardim São Paulo stations on Line 1-Azul, the latter being the most affected.
After being closed for 55 hours for repairs, drainage and cleaning at these three stations, the Blue Line will return to full operation on Monday morning. During the suspension period, the Support Plan between Transport Companies in the Face of Emergency Situations, popularly known as Operation PAESE, covered the affected stretch.
São Paulo residents can now use the São Paulo Metro transportation system again.
Find out how to protect yourself from heavy rain in São Paulo:
If you’re at home, it’s worth cleaning gutters, downspouts and drains before the rain starts, this helps prevent clogging and flooding. When the weather closes in, don’t forget to unplug appliances and, if possible, turn off the electricity and gas to avoid accidents.
If you’re out and about, avoid risky areas and don’t walk or drive on flooded roads. Also, look for a safe shelter, away from trees or metal structures. In this type of situation, enclosed and protected places are the best alternative. If you are driving, do not continue if the water reaches halfway up the wheel of the vehicle and keep your headlights on.
Finally, in the event of an emergency, keep these two contacts in mind: Civil Defense on 199 or the Fire Department on 193.
