Beach and São Paulo sound like two words that don’t go together, but believe me: there is love and beach in São Paulo! Although they’re not located in the capital, the São Paulo coastline has plenty of perfect options for getting away for the weekend and taking a dip. To help you out, we’ve put together some secret (or not so secret) beaches in São Paulo for you to enjoy!
Secret beaches to enjoy in São Paulo
Sangava Beach
Among the secret beaches in São Paulo, Praia do Sangava, located in Guarujá, has an impressive view, with giant rocks in the sand.
As well as being more deserted and further away from the hustle and bustle of the coast, the beach is perfect for relaxing, as it has calm seas and soft sand. For snorkelers, a submerged cave with corals and fish is quite an attraction!
Camburi Beach
Also in Guarujá, Camburi Beach is perfect for those who enjoy hiking and also surfing, because of the stronger waves.
As there are no restaurants or huts around, it’s a beach less frequented by those who like to spend the whole day. For this reason, it’s quieter. What’s more, with its long stretch of sand, it’s perfect for a walk and enjoying the view!
Cedro Beach
Located in Ubatuba, Praia do Cedro is also one of our tips for secret beaches in São Paulo. This is because, to get there, you have to take a trail and it’s worth going with a local guide to help you along the way.
As for the landscape, expect to be surprised! The beach is surrounded by large rocks and a small strip of soft white sand. And many locals use Cedro Bay to grow mussels.
Conchas Beach
Praia das Conchas is a real find, as it is very close to one of Ubatuba’s best-known beaches: Praia do Félix.
As the name suggests, it has a strip of sand covered in shells and a very transparent sea. It’s also worth noting the quietness of the place, as there are lots of trees around and no kiosks.
Ponta Azeda Beach
In Ilhabela, Ponta Azeda Beach is a small beach formed between Sino and Pinto beaches, in the north of the island.
It also has a cultural center and a municipal pier where boats can be received. It is therefore one of the must-see spots for a relaxing stroll by the sea.
Toque-Toque Pequeno Beach
Toque-Toque Pequeno beach is located in São Sebastião, approximately 3 hours from São Paulo. As it is in a residential area, it offers a quiet and peaceful refuge with little traffic.
Even so, the place has snack kiosks, making it an option for those who want tranquillity and infrastructure.
Prumirim Island
This beach is located in Ubatuba, close to the famous Ilha das Couves. With shallow, calm seas, it offers a quiet, relaxing walk with plenty of nature.
Despite the peace and quiet of a little-traveled destination, the place only has a simple kiosk. So, if you visit, don’t forget to take some snacks with you for the day!
