A coffee shop with a… poop? It sounds like a joke, but it’s already a reality in São Paulo. Newly opened in Liberdade, Poop Coffee is a themed coffee shop with an unusual proposal: the whole atmosphere and menu are inspired by “scatological elements”, such as feces and toilets. Would you dare to try it?
Meet Poop Coffee, the first poop-themed coffee shop in São Paulo
Although unconventional in Brazil,“poop coffee shops” are common in countries like Japan and South Korea. In these cultures, the theme is not considered “disgusting” or unpleasant, but rather something to be explored in a playful and humorous way.
Poop Coffee’s proposal, therefore, is to take inspiration from East Asia and bring the “bathroom universe” into the coffee shop. Among the menu options are dumplings , puddings and cheese breads in the shape of the “number two”, as well as ” edible soaps “, which are actually honey breads served in soap dishes.
The “coffees” – as the menu says – include espresso, frappuccino and cappuccino served in cups shaped like toilets. But the highlight is the “special PoopExpresso”, prepared with Café do Jacu, whose beans are semi-digested by the bird.

How to try the “coffees”?
Poop Coffee (whose name comes from the English words for “poop” and “coffee”) opened at the beginning of November and, in just a few weeks, has already won over fans and critics on social media. While some consider the coffee shop to be “disrespectful” and in “bad taste”, others argue that it’ s all just a good-natured joke.
In view of the controversy, it’s best to draw your own conclusions. Poop Coffee is located at Rua dos Estudantes, 86, in the Liberdade district, inside Galeria Legal. Opening hours are from 11am to 5.30pm, Monday to Monday. More information is available on social media.
