Having a beer while listening to a talk on forensic science, nuclear physics, or urban anthropology? In São Paulo, this has already become a tradition. From May 18 to 20, Pint of Science returns to the capital.
The program takes place in bars, pubs, and cultural venues with scientific discussions open to the public. Admission to the festival is free; attendees pay only for drinks and food at participating venues.
Pint of Science 2026 brings science to bars — and even to the Consolação Cemetery
Created in the United Kingdom and held simultaneously in several countries, Pint of Science transforms relaxed spaces into meeting places for scientists and the public.
In São Paulo, this year’s program takes place at ten locations across the city, including neighborhoods such as Pinheiros, Vila Mariana, Mooca, Consolação, and Ipiranga.
The idea is simple: to bring science closer to everyday life through lighthearted, accessible conversations outside the traditional academic setting.
But the 2026 edition promises to go beyond bar counters. For the first time, the festival will feature a nighttime event at the Consolação Cemetery, one of the capital’s most historic sites.
The event is organized in partnership with the group “O que te assombra?” and researchers from the University of São Paulo. The idea is to explore themes such as funerary art, architecture, and urban anthropology amidst the tombs and sculptures of the site.

In addition, among the highlights of the program is a discussion on the Cesium-137 radiation accident in Goiânia. The discussion will feature experts from the Institute of Energy and Nuclear Research who were involved in the response efforts at the time of the incident.
Another intriguing attraction will be the lecture by criminal expert Matheus Yuri de Sousa Honda, from the São Paulo Scientific Police. The specialist will simulate a live forensic investigation to demonstrate how crime solving works in practice.
Meanwhile, physicist Ricardo Galvão will participate in a discussion on the challenges of a scientific career and the social security rights of researchers in Brazil.
So, if you’re into unique outings in São Paulo, check out the full Pint of Science schedule and join one of the most intriguing events of the month.
