Located in Mairiporã, the Pico do Olho D’Água hill-mountain, at 1,180 meters, is one of the highest points in the Serra da Cantareira. It also treats visitors to a breathtaking sunset amidst a “sea of clouds.”
And so, what was supposed to be just another natural highlight of the mountain region has become a tourist attraction. People visit the highest point of Juqueri Hill to observe nature, take in the scenery, and snap plenty of photos.
In fact, the peak is a very popular spot for couples looking to do pre-wedding photo shoots and video shoots. It is also an unforgettable setting for marriage proposals. Additionally, the peak serves as a meeting point for groups of cyclists and motorcyclists. The fact that the road is 40 kilometers from the capital also contributes to the region’s popularity.
Pico do Olho D’Água and the local hydrography

The place name “Olho D’Água ” in the name is no mere coincidence; there is a water-rich landscape in the hill’s region. The springs feed local streams and rivers, such as the Juqueri River, for example. These natural springs, which gush water directly from the ground, give the hill its name, as they are typical of the area.
Although local tourism currently focuses on contemplative activities, the springs are important to the Serra da Cantareira. Without them, there would be no argument for nature conservation, nor the reservoirs or waterfalls that are the main attractions of ecotourism in the region.
