If you’re looking for an authentic Korean restaurant in São Paulo, you need to visit Oseyo. Located in Vila Mariana, the restaurant offers typical dishes and a very cozy space, as if you were having a meal in the home of a South Korean family.
But then again, the name couldn’t be any different. If you watch dramas, you’re probably used to hearing “oseyo!”, a welcoming phrase that means “come”. So the restaurant is an invitation to try the best of Korean food in an authentic and delicious way.
Oseyo: Korean cuisine, straight from Seoul
This Korean restaurant is run by Lucia Lee and Sung Kim who came directly from Seoul to SP. In 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, they decided to share their country’s cuisine with São Paulo residents via delivery. Little by little, the business has grown into a charming house in Vila Mariana, with an open kitchen and a menu not to be missed.
One of the house’s highlights is bibimbap, a popular Korean dish that mixes vegetables with rice, meat and a fried egg. As well as kimchi, a very typical option in local cuisine, which contains fermented vegetables and spices. But be warned that it has a slightly spicy flavor.
In addition, Oseyo offers many other flavors that are already familiar to drama fans. Such as bulgogui, marinated beef with oriental rice, or kimbap, Korean sushi that was even the favorite of Woo Young-woo, from
An Extraordinary Lawyer.
For drinks, we recommend Soju, a Korean alcoholic drink made from rice, or Refresher, a natural soda made from Sicilian lemon or Japanese plum, which is produced at Oseyo. And finally, for dessert you can try Yakgwa, a traditional Korean dessert with a touch of ginger.
