Art lovers can now prepare for an unforgettable 2025, as São Paulo’s postcard has just announced that the impressionist painters Monet and Renoir will be the subject of two exhibitions at MASP. So, as well as enjoying the museum’s new building, you’ll also be able to see works by the world’s most famous artists up close.
Since 2026, the institution has selected a theme to guide the exhibitions throughout the year. In 2024, we saw the motto ‘Stories of LGBTQIA+ diversity’ present works by artists such as Francis Bacon, Leonilson and Mário de Andrade. For the new year, the central theme will be ‘Stories of Ecology’.
Monet and Renoir at MASP:
Pierre-Auguste Renoir
Scheduled to open on March 28, this exhibition features works by the impressionist painter Renoir. The Frenchman is known for depicting cheerful, everyday scenes from the 19th century and left a legacy of more than a thousand works.
His style is characterized by strong brushstrokes and harmonious, pleasing images. The exhibition runs until August 3 in the Pietro Maria Bardi Building, the museum’s new space.
Monet’s ecology
In addition to Renoir, Oscar-Claude Monet will also be at MASP in 2025. His exhibition opens on May 16 in the Lino Bo Bardi Building and focuses on the Impressionist painter’s connection with ecology.
Monet became one of the main representatives of his artistic movement by portraying nature and the interaction of light with the environment. Among the painter’s main works are: ‘Impression, Sunrise’, ‘Woman with an Umbrella’ and ‘The Pond of Water Lilies’. Monet’s Ecology closes on August 24.
