The moment of the year that everyone has been waiting for has arrived! After all, in addition to the Christmas program occupying São Paulo the traditional illuminated buses are already circulating around the city.
And the best part: as well as having the chance to go home in a Christmassy mood after work, you can also take free rides. This is because, at weekends, illuminated vehicles leave from three points in the city and offer a trip to the beautiful Christmas decorations on Avenida Paulista.

Get on board São Paulo’s illuminated buses!
One of the main attractions of Christmas in São Paulo is the special operation of illuminated buses. The new Natal Iluminado line (2002-31) started running on Thursday, January 27, and will continue until January 6, 2026, bringing the festive spirit of the period to the population.
The tour departs from the Dom Pedro II Terminal and passes through iconic places in São Paulo; for example, Pateo do Collegio, Theatro Municipal, Sé and Républica squares, Paulista Avenue and Ibirapuera Park.
The line runs every day with the special decoration, from 6pm to 11.30pm, and the fare is normally R$5. There will be a free fare on Sundays, as is customary on São Paulo buses.

Take free rides at weekends
As well as cruising around the city in the Christmas spirit after work, you can also take a special tour free of charge on your days off. The special New Year’s Eve buses start running this Saturday, the 29th, and will be available until December 21st, always on Saturdays and Sundays from 6pm to 10pm.
In all, there will be 150 buses with lights and Christmas-themed decorations, which will take passengers free of charge to the great corridor of lights on Avenida Paulista. So, take your chance and check out where the free Christmas buses leave from below:
