On June 27 and 28, Gueinosai 2026 brings some of the East’s most beautiful artistic traditions directly from to São Paulo! Also known as the Japanese Folk Music and Dance Festival, the event features performances of traditional instruments, theatrical dances, and folk theater, paying homage to the ancient culture of the Land of the Rising Sun.
The program will be completely free and will take place in the Bunkyo Grand Auditorium, in the Liberdade neighborhood. Organized by the Japanese-Brazilian community, this Japanese festival in São Paulo will be a rare opportunity to discover surprising details of Japanese culture in an atmosphere of collective celebration.

What to expect from the Japanese Folk Music and Dance Festival?
Gueinosai 2026 is supported by the Brazilian Society of Japanese Culture and Social Assistance (Bunkyo) and reinforces its role in cultural preservation by celebrating the 118th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Brazil.
During the festival, you’ll be able to enjoy performances passed down through generations:
- Kayo buyo ( traditional dance with popular music) and yosakoi (energetic contemporary dance);
- Japanese classical and folk music, including taiko performances ( the imposing Japanese drums);
- Performances featuring Japanese dragons and theatrical dances;
- Taissô (Japanese cultural gymnastics);
- Martial arts demonstrations.
It will be a complete immersion, where you will discover traditions from different regions of Japan. In addition, the traditional costumes and sets make the performances even more impressive!

Gueinosai 2026 has a charitable focus
Since admission is completely free, the Japanese festival in São Paulo is an accessible event for all audiences. Beyond the entertainment, the event maintains its community spirit: the organizers encourage visitors to donate 1 kg of non-perishable food at the entrance, which will be donated to charitable organizations.
Finally, the Japanese Folk Music and Dance Festival will feature a raffle for prizes. Mark your calendars now so you don’t miss this weekend of free culture and entertainment!
