‘La Fontaine’s Fantastic Fables’ is a very cute new exhibition on display at the Santander Lighthouse. It promises to be a hit with children, due to its magical universe, but also with adults, as it is very nostalgic and takes us back to those times when we learned the moral of the story from fables.
Known for entertaining and educating generations, fables are short stories with characters who have human characteristics and, at the end of their journey, present a moral to the reader. A classic fable is ‘The Hare and the Tortoise’, which teaches that persistence trumps speed.
Check out the fables selected for this new exhibition:
Among so many magical tales, eight were chosen to give life to the themed stations inspired by the work of French writer Jean de La Fontaine. They are:
-
- The Fox and the Stork;
-
- The Oak and the Reed;
-
- The Hare and the Tortoise;
-
- The Cicada and the Ant;
-
- The Fox and the Grapes;
-
- The Rooster and the Fox;
-
- The Lion and the Mouse;
-
- The Frog and the Ox.
The exhibition offers very interesting interactive proposals for children. This way, they can feel immersed in the fables. For example: in ‘The Hare and the Tortoise’ there is a simulation of the race and in ‘The Cicada and the Ant’, the visitor has the sensation of being small in relation to the scenery.
