The coastline of São Paulo has several hidden paradises with unspoiled nature and stunning landscapes. One of them is Cocanha Beach, in a paradisiacal caiçara village in Caraguatatuba that combines tourism with sustainability and respect for local traditions.
Its beauty has always attracted many tourists, but now Cocanha has also won international recognition. And from none other than UN Tourism, which has chosen it to compete for the international “Best Tourist Villages” award ! In other words, you could say that one of the best seaside villages is just 2 hours away from São Paulo.
Praia da Cocanha is the only village in São Paulo to compete for the award
Every year, UN Tourism chooses the “Best Tourist Villages” in the world. The aim is to recognize rural destinations that practice sustainable tourism, preserving local culture and communities.
The award, whose ceremony will take place from November 7 to 11 in Saudi Arabia, has only eight Brazilian candidates. Of these, Praia da Cocanha is the only representative from São Paulo, which demonstrates its prominence among so many destinations in the state.
Visit the caiçara village!
Cocanha Beach is in a caiçara community, mostly made up of artisanal fishing families. Over the years, the village has developed a sustainable tourism approach, opening up its beauty to the public without neglecting local traditions.
The sea has calm, clear waters and the preserved nature around it gives the village an unforgettable paradisiacal appearance. In addition, the Cocanha River flows there, allowing visitors to enjoy a swim in fresh or salt water.
