You don’t have to go to the museum to see art in São Paulo. From now on, you can enjoy it even on the subway! That’s because Estação da Luz has just welcomed the unprecedented “Projeto Centenários – Clarice Lispector”, an exhibition paying tribute to the writer’s life and work.
The exhibition comes in celebration of International Women’s Day, which took place last Saturday, the 8th. It is available on Line 4-Yellow and allows passengers to learn more about the work of one of Brazil’s greatest writers during their daily journeys on public transport. So if you’re a regular on the Luz platforms, how about taking some time out of your busy day to check out the exhibition?
“Projeto Centenários – Clarice Lispector” is available until April
Starting this week, Line 4-Yellow will make a stop on Clarice Lispector’s story. The walls of Luz Station and a train car will be covered in stickers with images of the author, as well as excerpts from her works. A panel also traces Lispector’s biography, with curiosities about her life, and there will be personalized ribbons with the author’s striking phrases, which passengers can take home.
An instagrammable installation allows visitors to take photos in a literary setting, with an armchair, typewriter and several of the writer’s iconic books. The space is also home to themed collages made by Clarice Lispector’s own granddaughter, Mariana Valente.
Another feature of the exhibition is a reading space at Estação da Luz, which will receive new books by Clarice Lispector every month. As well as being a point of access to literature, the space will also collect books for donation.
