After the spring equinox, we begin the countdown to Halloween, the “scariest” day of the year. For fans of mystery and horror, São Paulo offers many different ways to experience the holiday, but few take place by candlelight— *Candlelight: Halloween Songs* is set to give everyone chills on October 31 at the iconic Assis Chateaubriand Museum of Art of São Paulo (MASP).
Instead of a conventional movie screening, the Monte Cristo Quartet will perform music from films and TV series that have shaped the Halloween imagination under the soft glow of hundreds of candles. From timeless classics like Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and the spine-chilling melody from “The Exorcist,” not to mention the mysterious “Stranger Things” or the famous theme from “Ghostbusters,” the tracks were carefully selected.

Why at MASP?
For an event of this scale and spirit, the choice of venue is almost as important as the musical program. And MASP promises to live up to expectations. After all, it’s a very special venue in São Paulo.
Founded in 1947, the iconic museum has been housed since 1968 in the building on Avenida Paulista designed by Lina Bo Bardi, one of the most recognizable landmarks of modern Brazilian architecture. The contrast between the harsh, brutal lines of the concrete and the flickering light of thousands of candles creates the perfect aura of mystery for listening to the most spine-chilling soundtracks from film and beyond.
