AeroGRU has arrived, and with it, the long-awaited connection between the city of São Paulo and Brazil’s main airport. Instead of relying solely on cars or buses, passengers now have an automated, fast, rail-based alternative that is integrated with the CPTM train lines.
The Guarulhos Airport train will provide a direct connection from Aeroporto-Guarulhos Station (Line 13-Jade) to the three passenger terminals. This means that those leaving the state capital will be able to reach GRU much more comfortably and quickly.

How does AeroGRU work?
The new Guarulhos Airport train is an automatic aeromovel type, meaning it runs on an elevated track separate from other means of transport. The route between the CPTM station and terminals 1, 2, and 3 is just over 2 kilometers long and will run without a driver, with state-of-the-art technology and air conditioning.
With this new service, passengers can use the Line 13-Jade express service at Luz or Palmeiras-Barra Funda stations and then transfer to AeroGRU. The final leg on the aeromovel takes about 6 minutes, significantly reducing a journey that previously depended entirely on traffic conditions.

When will the Guarulhos Airport train be available to the public?
AeroGRU is currently in the testing phase, serving only Guarulhos Airport employees and guests. For now, the transport operates at reduced speed to allow for adjustments to the safety and automation systems.
According to GRU Airport and the concessionaire responsible, AeroGRU is expected to be available to the public in January 2026. The transport will have three trains and a capacity of up to 2,000 passengers per hour in each direction, offering a more organic interaction between the metropolis and Brazil’s largest airport.
