The city of Cruzeiro, 220 kilometers from the capital, has gained fame among São Paulo residents for hosting the Expresso Mantiqueira, a revitalized section of the São Paulo-Minas Gerais railway line. However, the municipality also attracts hundreds of visitors for the Balloon Festival, one of the most traditional of its kind in Brazil.
The 2026 edition already has a confirmed date: from May 15 to 17, this inland city will welcome balloons of various shapes and colors, transforming the sky into a spectacular show! All of this will be accompanied by cultural attractions and a food festival featuring the best of local cuisine.

The celebration began in the 2010s and soon became a gathering spot for balloonists from São Paulo. Now in its 11th edition, the event is part of Cruzeiro’s official calendar, attracting both practitioners of the sport and curious visitors who wish to enjoy the decorated skyline.
In 2026, the festival will feature three days of outdoor programming. The public will be able to watch various balloons inflating and taking off in a one-of-a-kind display of colors. In addition to the show in the sky, there will be two stages with live performances of pop rock, rock, and MPB, a gourmet area with craft beer, and children’s activities. In other words, a complete outing for the whole family!
