Light vehicle rotation is suspended until January 2025
São Paulo has had a vehicle rotation system since 1997. The measure aims to ease traffic in the capital, which has almost 300 km of daily traffic jams.
The suspension takes place every year during the school vacation period and the end-of-year festivities, when the number of vehicles decreases considerably on the capital’s roads.
Restriction continues as normal for trucks
The suspension is only in effect for light vehicles, such as cars. Meanwhile, the rotation for trucks continues as normal throughout the end-of-year period.
Thus, drivers of heavy vehicles should pay attention to the restrictions for their category, such as the Maximum Restriction Zone for Truck Circulation (ZMRC) and the Maximum Restriction Zone for Chartering (ZMRF).
