‘The Sound of Music’ is on show in São Paulo
At the end of the 1930s, just before the Second World War, a young novice in Austria has difficulty adapting to the routine of the convent. She is then sent to be governess to the children of a widowed captain, bringing happiness back to the house.
The show premiered on Broadway in 1959 and has since become a classic all over the world. The story was also adapted for the big screen in 1965 and won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
This new Brazilian adaptation is completely unprecedented, featuring Malu Rodrigues and Pierre Baitelli in the roles of Maria and Captain Von Trapp. In addition, Larissa Manoela is part of the cast as Liesl, along with 40 other actors, and the direction is by Charles Möeller & Claudio Botelho.
‘The Sound of Music’ has already been to Rio de Janeiro, where it attracted more than 60,000 spectators. As far as accessibility is concerned, the show will feature translation into Libras, audio description and subtitles.
