Get ready to observe the sky over the next few days, because October has arrived with a real celestial spectacle, including a Supermoon in São Paulo. It will be possible to see various phenomena between the 12th and 21st of this month and you can’t miss this unique opportunity to see the beauties of the universe.
The show started on the 2nd with a beautiful partial eclipse of the Sun, but there’s still plenty to see. Check out the dates of the next astronomical events that can be seen with the naked eye in São Paulo and enjoy the experience.
Check out the celestial show schedule:
On October 12, Comet C/2023 A3, or Tsuschinschan-ATLAS, can be seen close to Earth. Known as the “Comet of the Century“, the star can be seen with the naked eye.
On October 17, the Supermoon will light up the skies. On this night, the natural satellite will be 8% larger and 15.7% brighter than usual. Thus offering a perfect lunar view for spectators.
To round off the month of astrological spectacles, the Orionid meteor showers take place in the early hours of October 21. The phenomenon is the result of debris from the famous Halley’s Comet and promises to bring impressive flashes to the sky.
Get ready to see the Supermoon and other celestial wonders!
If you already have a telescope or binoculars, your viewing experience will be even better. But if not, don’t worry: the phenomena can be seen with the naked eye. Another way to improve visibility is to watch from a city in the countryside, as the light pollution from the capital can get in the way.
Finally, dress warmly and enjoy the experience. The Supermoon is stunning and comets are rare visitors. This makes October 2024 an excellent month for astronomy lovers.
