Regular readers of São Paulo Secreto already know that Brazil’s largest lavender field is in the interior of São Paulo, three hours from the capital. So, if you’re passionate about flowers, here’s another must-see destination: the sunflower field in Indaiatuba, which boasts one of the most beautiful sunsets in the state!
The plantation is located in the metropolitan region of Campinas, about 100 kilometers from the capital. In other words, with just a 1.5-hour drive, you can breathe fresh air and admire a magnificent landscape dotted with yellow.

How a single resident created this sea of flowers in the interior of São Paulo
It all began in late 2020 with Marcelo Leal, a businessman from Indaiatuba who wanted to contribute to his city’s cultural scene. Upon realizing that a specific area already attracted many visitors to watch the sunset, he decided to plant flowers to further beautify the scenery.
His greatest inspiration was his own mother, who was passionate about roses. However, he chose the sunflower because it is a species that blooms quickly and stands out for its imposing appearance.
Over the years, the sunflower field has grown and become a tourist attraction in Indaiatuba. Today, the site covers 33,000 square meters and features 50,000 flowers, serving as a peaceful retreat in the interior of São Paulo.

The field receives between 2,500 and 3,000 visitors per weekend. Although many are residents of Indaiatuba, owner Marcelo Leal says the plantation attracts tourists from far away, who travel hundreds of kilometers to enjoy the view.
The site features Instagram-worthy swings and is occasionally visited by parakeets, which makes the outing even more special. Additionally, on some weekends, the lineup includes DJs and food trucks to liven up the sunset.
The attraction is located on Avenida Fábio Ferraz Bicudo, in the Vila Fahl subdivision. Admission is free, and you can visit at any time, but sunset is certainly the most special moment.
