Suei has only just opened its doors and is already causing quite a stir in Barra Funda. The bar, which opened about a month ago, is attracting enthusiasts for its innovative proposal: a modern, relaxed place with live music and Japanese-inspired cuisine.
In other words, to visit Suei is to experience the best of both worlds. As well as enjoying good samba and signature drinks, you can also indulge in oniguiris and other Asian-style snacks.
So this holiday season, how about calling your friends to visit the hotspot of the moment?
Suei is a gastronomic novelty in Barra Funda
The bar’s name is no coincidence. With a diverse musical program, it promises to get the public sweating on the dance floor! There you’ll find samba circles (usually on Sundays) and DJs with varied set-lists, including pop and more. But if you prefer to sit down, no problem: Suei also has tables on the sidewalk.
Chef Karol Lopes brings an authentic, Japanese-inspired menu to the restaurant. The highlight is the tuna oniguiri (rice dumpling) with shissô and its vegan version of umeboshi with furikake. There’s also the Japanese sunomono salad and onion petals with tofu and pomegranate molasses.
To drink, there are beers and wines specially chosen by sommelière Andrea Vilas Boas Bourgogne, who runs the venture together with Ana Laura Miotto and Claudia Nakamoto, partners in the Bandeira Bandeira saffron bar.
Also noteworthy is the menu of signature drinks, inspired by classics. The Gomita, for example, is a sweet cocktail that promises to delight Cosmopolitan fans, with tequila, strawberries, slightly spicy raspberry syrup and lime. The Pepini is a version of the Martini based on cucumber and lemon.
But these are just spoilers of what’s to come. As it’s only just opened, the menu is still in the testing phase and there should be even more new additions in the coming months!
