Residents of São Paulo’s largest neighborhood, Grajaú, now have another leisure option. We’re talking about the Prainha Pabreu Park, which has just opened its doors on the banks of the Billings Dam.
The area, which previously housed families in irregular housing situations, has undergone a revitalization that provides entertainment and a green area for the local population. Check out more details below!
Get to know Prainha Pabreu Park
Until recently, the park area was home to 425 families in precarious housing situations, without basic sanitation and in irregular occupations. After this community was resettled in decent housing, the space took on a new purpose.
From now on, the people of Grajaú have a new space for outdoor activities. Among the options available there are, for example:
- Skate park;
- Sports courts;
- Playground;
- Walking trails;
- Floating deck.
Environmental preservation
As well as entertainment options, the Prainha Pabreu Park will help keep the Grajaú region greener. The site has received seedlings that will help restore the environment around the Billings Dam, and will soon receive mini Atlantic Forest forests as well.
Before the park was set up, Grajaú also received basic sanitation works, so that local waste no longer ends up in the Billings. Thus, the park adds to the dam’s preservation measures.
