Aviation enthusiasts can now celebrate! Scheduled to open within three years, the Paulista Aerospace Museum, also known as MAPA, promises to become one of the largest centers for the preservation and celebration of aviation history in Brazil.
The site is the result of a partnership between the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and the Wings of a Dream Museum (MAS), founded by the Amaro family, creators of TAM Linhas Aéreas, and promises to be a robust project full of historical significance for aviation.
What will the Paulista Aerospace Museum exhibit?
MAPA’s collection will consist of 80 aircraft, divided between the FAB and MAS collections. Among the highlights are historic models such as the Lockheed Constellation, an icon of Brazilian commercial aviation, as well as replicas of Santos Dumont’s inventions, such as the 14 Bis and the Demoiselle. The museum will also feature:
- Historical items chronicling the development of aviation in Brazil and around the world;
- Thematic exhibitions, which will explore everything from the beginnings of aviation to the present day;
- An educational context, reinforcing the museum’s role as a learning tool.
Additional information about MAPA:
The Paulista Aerospace Museum will be installed in the space of the São Paulo Aeronautical Material Park (PAMA-SP), next to Campo de Marte. The choice is no coincidence: the site is a historic landmark for Brazilian aviation, being the country’s first civil airport.
Although the inauguration is scheduled for the next three years, the feasibility study will be completed by March 2025. In the meantime, part of the Asas de um Sonho Museum ‘s collection will remain on display in Itu. So, if you’re looking forward to this news, it’s worth taking a trip to MAS while the Paulista Aerospace Museum is being built here in the capital.
