This Tuesday, the 3rd, the result of the National Public Architecture Competition has been released. The action defined the new headquarters of the Government of São Paulo and impressed with the area where the project will be built: between Praça Princesa Isabel and Palácio dos Campos Elíseos, known as “Cracolândia”.
The selected project was created by Opera Quatro and aims to revitalize the area and rationalize operating costs. Thus, the construction will give a second chance to the neighborhood that frightens São Paulo residents with its violence, robberies and concentration of illicit drug users.
On the 19th, the final approval of the winner will take place, and then the project will be made viable.

The architectural project for the new administrative center for the state of São Paulo proposed a complex of buildings of different heights connected by walkways. There will also be stores, patios and a parking lot in the building.
According to the architect of Opera Quatro, Pablo Chakur, in interview for Estadão: “We are very happy with the result of the competition and believe that this is the first step towards transforming the Campos Elíseos neighborhood and the center of São Paulo.“
What prompted the change?
Currently, around 60 buildings spread across the capital house the state administration. Thus, the project aims to centralize the secretariats, public companies and other management entities for better performance of the entity.
We can therefore expect that, in a few years, the Campos Elíseos neighborhood will have a new look, with yet another great architectural project standing out in the city of São Paulo.
