Santa Rita do Passa Quatro, known for having the longest name among São Paulo’s cities, is already preparing for the 34th edition of the Italian Traditions Festival. From July 8 to 11, the winter festival offers the best of Italian cuisine, music, and culture, just 245 kilometers from São Paulo’s capital.
The traditional celebration turns the cool July weather into the perfect setting for enjoying pasta and wine outdoors. Plus, there will be themed decorations, stages, and evening cultural performances that promise to delight locals and tourists alike!

The Italian Traditions Festival pays homage to the city’s roots
Starting in the 1880s, Santa Rita do Passa Quatro received a large wave of immigrants from Italy. Attracted by the growth of the coffee industry, these foreigners came to work on farms in the interior of São Paulo and ended up forever shaping the city’s identity and economic development.
According to the local government, 75% of the population of Santa Rita do Passa Quatro is of Italiandescent. This strong influence led the municipality to create the Festival of Italian Traditions, which has honored the daily lives of local ancestors since the 1990s.

What to expect from the Italian festival in Santa Rita do Passa Quatro?
The local city government organizes the event in partnership with charitable organizations that operate food stalls serving traditional cuisine. These associations offer homemade dishes such as pasta, special sauces, polenta, antipasti, and desserts, donating all proceeds to social projects within the community itself.
In addition to the culinary experience, the public enjoys a cultural immersion with concerts, choirs, bands, and Italian folk dance groups.
Finally, some good news: the festival will open on the eve of the Constitutionalist Revolution holiday. So, anyone planning to take the long weekend starting July 9 has the perfect opportunity to plan a weekend trip full of attractions!
