In a few years, the Itaberaba – Vila Penteado Hospital Station should be delivered in SP. But before its inauguration, the site has already broken a major record with the title of the deepest subway station in Latin America. The project is the result of a public-private partnership between the São Paulo State Government and the Linha Uni Concessionaire.
For comparison’s sake: Pinheiros Station is 40 meters deep and Santa Cruz, which is currently the deepest, is 41.5 meters. But Itaberaba was designed to be 65 meters deep. In other words, be prepared to go down a lot of escalators if you want to go there!
Itaberaba Station – Vila Penteado Hospital: an impressive 65 meters deep!
With depths equivalent to a 20-storey building, this station wasn’t designed this way for nothing. It needs to be a considerable distance away in order to pass under the Tietê River and other Metro tunnels. Itaberaba will thus become the deepest station in Latin America!
Everything you need to know about Line 6-Orange:
The Itaberaba – Vila Penteado Hospital Station is part of Line 6-Orange, which has finally had its construction contemplated and is expected to be delivered in 2026. So far, we can say that 48% of the work has been completed.
The line has 15 stations. In all, there are 15.3 km of track. The route connects Brasilândia, in the north of São Paulo, to the city center, at São Joaquim station. In this way, the “zona nortenses” will have one more option for mobility to the central region and the inhabitants of the rest of the city will be able to discover the beauties of the ZN with ease.
