Capivari Park, in Campos do Jordão, hosts the 12th edition of the Vale Nihon Matsuri Festival, one of the region’s premier events celebrating Eastern culture . Celebrating the cherry blossom season in the Mantiqueira Mountains, the festival features four days of completely free programming dedicated to Japanese and Korean traditions!
The event combines historical elements with Asian pop culture, making it the perfect program for enjoying a festival in the countryside of São Paulo. Attendees can enjoy a fully immersive experience, featuring traditional cuisine, artistic performances, and interactive attractions in one of the most charming spots in “Brazilian Switzerland”!
Music, dance, and tradition on stage
The cultural program at Nihon Matsuri features taiko performances ( traditional Japanese drums) and odori(classical Japanese dance) performances, as well as karaoke and an open mic. The lineup of guests includes TV host Ju Sama, cosplayer Naoko, the duos Midori & Mayumi and Bia Hikaru & Bianca Ayumi, and Ricardo Nakase, a cover artist for singer Mikawa Kenichi.
The musical diversity is further enhanced by singer Cilia, who performs soundtracks from Disney and the movies. Another highlight is the Orion Orchestra from the Alpha Lumen Institute, making its debut at the festival with a repertoire featuring anime and geek culture.
Representing the Korean wave, the festival features performances by the group Guerreiras do K-POP and cover acts. In addition, there will be a dance contest, with free registration available on the day of the event.
Asian cuisine and tourist attractions
In the food court, visitors will find classic dishes such as yakisoba, tempura, hot rolls, and gyoza, as well as delicacies like takoyaki (octopus balls) and nikuman (steamed buns).
From South Korean cuisine, the main highlights are stick dog and recipes made famous by K-dramas. There will also be an Asian market with imported products for those who want to take a little piece of Asia home.
The 12th Vale Nihon Matsuri Festival takes place August 27–30 at Capivari Park, located in Campos do Jordão (SP). With free admission, the event has established itself as a comprehensive destination for leisure and dining in the state.
