The show ‘Brilho Eterno’ is already showing in São Paulo, with Reynaldo Gianecchini and Tainá Müller in the lead roles. Slightly inspired by the movie ‘Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind’, it already had a run in the São Paulo capital in 2022, when it sold out and won four drama awards.
The play runs until February 23 at Teatro Bravos (Rua Coropé, 88 – Pinheiros). Tickets cost between R$25 and R$180 and are available on the official website or at the theater box office. Check out more details below!
What to expect from ‘Eternal Sunshine’?
Despite being inspired by the award-winning movie, the plot is not an adaptation. After all, it has an original script that explores how much people are willing to suffer for love in their lives. So it pays homage to the feature and brings in some references from the original story, but in a totally new way.
The plot explores the relationship between Jesse (Reynaldo Gianecchini) and Celine (Tainá Müller), a couple who love each other in different ways but face the difficulties of emotional incompatibility. Directed by Jorge Farjalla, it has a non-linear script that alternates between the past, the present and the hallucinations of the characters, in a playful and sometimes comic way.
Tribute to the 21st anniversary of the film’s release
‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ premiered in 2004 and won awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress at the 2005 Oscars. This new season of the play comes as a tribute to the 21 years of success of the movie, which is still one of the classics of the 2000s.
Audiences can therefore expect a plot that exalts the essence of the original work and deals with themes that have already been explored. However, these themes are discussed in the play with current issues, such as female representation, giving more scene to the character of Celine.
