The 27th edition of the Cultura Inglesa Festival is coming to São Paulo. From September 26 to October 13, 2024, the event presents a diverse free program that celebrates multiculturalism.
This year’s theme is “ACTION” and there are 52 free events spread across 14 cultural venues in the city. In other words, the public will be able to enjoy a wealth of activities including music, theater, cinema, digital art and a debate forum.

How to take part in the Cultura Inglesa 2024 Festival?
With dozens of activities involving music, theater, cinema and debates, this is the biggest multicultural event in São Paulo. After all, during the period, the English Culture Festival seeks to promote a connection between cultures and offer an inclusive experience for all audiences.
The events are free, and the full program can be accessed on the official platform. Below we’ve selected some of the main activities you can enjoy at the festival.
Music program
Music is one of the highlights of the festival, with concerts that celebrate cultural diversity. That’s why, on September 28th, CIF in Concert will take place at Casa Natura Musical.
Starting at 7:30pm, the public can enjoy performances by Xenia França, Funmilayo Afrobeat Orchestra and DJ Evelyn Cristina.
Admission is free and it will be a chance to enjoy a unique show that mixes Afro and contemporary rhythms.
Another highlight is CIF Soundsystem, who will be closing the festival.
On October 13, Tendal da Lapa will host the British Mr. Williamz and national artists such as Peroli, Lys Ventura, Junior Dread and other reggae and dub artists.
Theater
Theater also has a prominent place in the 27th edition of the Cultura Inglesa Festival.
This is because the British company Action Hero is presenting ‘The Talent’ on October 4 and 5 at Sesc Consolação.
The play explores new approaches to performance and is directed by the creative team of Deborah Pearson, James Stenhouse and actress Gemma Paintin.
On October 2, the company will also hold a workshop entitled “Text, voice and theater: New paths for performance”, also at Sesc Consolação.
Open-air cinema
In partnership with the Cinemateca Brasileira, the festival brings three iconic outdoor screenings.
They are: Back to Black (2024), The Shining (1980) and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001), on October 4, 5 and 6, respectively.
The screenings take place at 8pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 6pm on Sunday, giving you the chance to enjoy an outdoor movie in one of São Paulo’s most emblematic cultural spaces.
CIF Talks
With the aim of promoting dialog on contemporary issues, the festival is holding ‘CIF Talks: Culture, Education and Society Forum’ at the Brazilian British Center.
The forum will feature discussions on Cultural Mediation, DEF Culture, Art and the Environment and International Collaboration. In other words, the chance to connect professionals and the public in an environment of knowledge exchange and reflection.
CIF Paraisópolis
Finally,on Children’s Day, October 12, the festival promotes CIF Paraisópolis at CEU Paraisópolis. During the day, the population will enjoy a program full of workshops, music, theater, dance and slam battles, coordinated by the artist Roberta Estrela D’Alva.
In addition, the festival launches the publication ‘The Book of Paraisópolis’, a bilingual guide book that celebrates the children’s view of the area, developed by Englishmen Andy Field and Beckie Darlington.
