On November 23, Estação Motiva Cultural (formerly Estação CCR das Artes) will host an unmissable evening for those who love classical music: the concert “Câmara: um suvenir de Tchaikovsky“, promoted by the OSESP Foundation.
The performance takes place at 6pm at the Júlio Prestes Cultural Complex (Praça Júlio Prestes, 16 – Campos Elíseos), a space that continues to consolidate itself as a meeting point between São Paulo audiences and concert music.
From the lyricism of Tchaikovsky to the intensity of Shostakovich: a dialog between generations
The program celebrates two milestones in Russian chamber music. On the one hand, the Souvenir de Florence, composed by Tchaikovsky in 1890 during a stay in Italy. It is the composer’s only work written for string sextet, and unites lyricism, drama and the emotional glow that define his art.
Fifty years later, Shostakovich brought a new voice to the tradition with his Piano Quintet in G minor, Op. 57. Initially thought of as a quartet, the composer decided to expand the formation and take to the stage as a pianist – and the result was an immediate success. The piece became one of the most performed of his career and continues to delight audiences around the world.

Even after the last chord, the music still shines through
The city has other opportunities to be enchanted by Tchaikovsky, now by candlelight and accompanied by ballerinas in the Candlelight Ballet: The Best of Tchaikovsky. The concert series Candlelight series of concerts feature thrilling interpretations of his works, as well as pieces by Vivaldi , Mozart, Beethoven, Bach and other great masters, in intimate settings bathed in a sea of soft light.
