So, discover the cities with the fewest inhabitants in São Paulo , according to the latest Demographic Census, carried out in 2022 by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics(IBGE).

5th place: União Paulista
Opening the list of the five cities with the fewest inhabitants in São Paulo: União Paulista. This municipality is home to 1,603 people and is part of the São José do Rio Preto Metropolitan Region.
4th place: Flora Rica
With 1,487 inhabitants, Flora Rica is a town whose population fell by 15.13% between the 2010 and 2022 censuses.
The municipality is named after its diverse and exuberant nature and has São José as its patron saint.
3rd place: Uru
Uru is a coffee-growing town founded in 1934 with an impressive 1,387 inhabitants. Bathed by the River Tietê, the town is very peaceful and bucolic, with large areas of native vegetation in its surroundings.
2nd place: Nova Castilho
With a total of 1,062 inhabitants, Nova Castilho is in 2nd place in the ranking of towns with the fewest inhabitants in São Paulo! The small town was founded in 1923 and its main activity is farming, mainly dairy cattle and sugar cane.
1st place: Borá
Officially consecrated as the “least populous city in the state of São Paulo”, Borá has only 907 inhabitants, but is constantly growing.
In the 2010 Census, the municipality counted 805 residents, which means that more than 100 people have joined the town in the 12 years between the surveys. It may not seem like much, but percentage-wise it’s a big step forward!
