Ubatuba is 220 kilometers from São Paulo, and is one of the most popular cities for those who want to enjoy the coast. This is because it has options for all tastes, whether you want to spend time with the family, enjoy nature or catch that incredible surf wave! Here are some of the beaches in Ubatuba that appeal to all audiences, from those who enjoy the hustle and bustle to those who prefer a more relaxed trip.
Ubatuba beaches to include in your itinerary
Praia Grande
For those who want a buzz, Praia Grande is the best option in Ubatuba. The beachfront is lined with kiosks and restaurants, as well as many shops and services. It’s no wonder that it’s one of the most visited beaches on the north coast, receiving thousands of tourists every year.
If you like movement, then make a stop there. But be warned that, although Praia Grande already receives many visitors normally, during the high season it can get very crowded.

Lázaro Beach
This option suits both those who like busy beaches and those who want peace and quiet in Ubatuba. This is because the left-hand side of Lázaro Beach has stalls with drinks and snacks, ideal for contemplating the landscape while drinking a cold beer. The right-hand side has no kiosks, making it a good choice for more relaxed travelers.
Its calm sea attracts many bathers with children, so Lázaro Beach has become a traditional destination for family trips.

Praia de Fora
Movement not your thing? In this case, Praia de Fora should please you. After all, this little piece of coastline is practically deserted, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in nature. The sea is rough, good for surfing. But you can also take advantage of the stretch of sand to sunbathe or contemplate the landscape.
Access is via a 30-minute trail that starts on the left-hand side of Prainha da Enseada. The walk is easy, but once you reach Praia de Fora you have to descend a slope that requires more skill. If you’re up for this adventure, remember to bring water and snacks to get you through the day, as there are no kiosks there.

Cedro Beach
This is another of Ubatuba’s almost deserted beaches, a true seaside retreat. It can only be reached by boat or via the 7 Beaches Trail, accessible from Fortaleza (3 kilometers) or Lagoinha (7 kilometers) beaches. Thus, few bathers venture there, which gives the place an air of exclusivity and quiet.
The waters are so crystal clear that they look like the Caribbean Sea, with an unspoiled biodiversity that is very conducive to diving. As for the infrastructure, on busy days locals open a small bar on the sand. But always take snacks and drinks with you, as there are no kiosks there most of the time.

Lagoinha Beach
As well as being the starting (or finishing) point for the 7 Beaches Trail, Lagoinha is also one of the best options for those traveling with children, as it has shallow, calm seas. Its waters are a little darker in color, but this doesn’t detract from the scenery, which is enchanting because it is surrounded by so much nature! In addition, some kiosks offer snacks and drinks on the strip of sand.

Sununga Beach
Last but not least, adventurers need to visit Sununga. Known as the “capital of skimboarding”, this beach in Ubatuba is one of the best in the world for practicing the sport, but it also attracts people because of its natural beauty. There, for example, you’ll find the Gruta Que Chora, a rock formation that makes for beautiful photos.
However, the sea is rough and choppy, with very strong waves. So if you want to bathe or are traveling with children, it’s best to choose another option.
