The SP Choro in Jazz Festival reaches its fifth edition in September! Considered one of the most important festivals in São Paulo, the event offers in-person programming in the state capital and free online activities.
For audiences seeking the best of jazz in São Paulo, this year’s edition is centered on the concept “Choro. Jazz. Encounters. New Dialogues.” The goal is to foster an exchange between different generations and traditions of instrumental music, in an intimate cultural experience.

Conceived and directed by Adriana Belic, the SP Choro in Jazz Festival focuses on the diversity of our instrumental music. The team also includes musical director Fabio Bergamini, artistic director Guga Stroeter, and Roberta Valente as choro curator.
The fifth edition seeks to stimulate new creative dialogues. This approach ensures that the project remains focused on promoting the exchange of experiences among different styles within the instrumental scene—a key feature of the event since its inception.

The in-person opening will take place on Saturday, September 26, at the Escola de Choro de São Paulo. Registration is available through the festival’s social media channels.
In the evening, Estúdio Gugastro, in Alto de Pinheiros, will host two exclusive concerts. At 7 p.m., the show *Reencontro* brings together harmonica player Vitor Lopes and guitarist Daniel Murray, with guest appearances by French flutist Jean-Luc Thomas and tambourine player Roberta Valente.
Shortly after, at 8:30 p.m., the YANGOS quartet takes the stage. Formed in the Serra Gaúcha in 2005 and with a Latin Grammy nomination (2017) under their belt, the group is preparing to release the album VIDA.
Finally, the jazz festival’s YouTube channel will broadcast the Sound Talks from September 27 to 30, always at 7 p.m. Each member of YANGOS will lead a free themed chat, exploring different elements of instrumental music.
