The 2026 World Cup enters its second day this Friday, June 12, with two matches in the first round of the group stage. The highlight is the debut of the United States, one of the host nations, against Paraguay in Group D in Los Angeles.
For the hosts, it’s a chance to start their home campaign on the right foot and set their sights on the group lead. For the Paraguayans, the only South American team on the field that day, the opener serves as fuel in the fight for a spot in the expanded knockout stage, which now qualifies 32 teams.
Earlier, another host nation kicks off its campaign: Canada hosts Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto for Group B. The Canadians, who will playtheir first three matches on home soil, want to take advantage of the home-field advantage to get off to a strong start, while the Bosnians make their debut looking to pull off an upset.
Since these are group stage openers, none of the four teams has any previous results in the competition. Everything starts to be decided from now on!
