What to expect from Wicked?
Wicked presents the untold story of the witches of Oz. In other words, in the play, the audience learns about the unlikely friendship between Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.
After an encounter with the Wizard of Oz, Elphaba and Glinda are forced to make a decision. While Glinda wants to remain popular, Elphaba doesn’t want to betray her moral values. Inevitably, their lives take very different turns.
The musical addresses issues of injustice and prejudice in a comical and moving way. It also reminds us that there are always at least two points of view for the same story.
The production of 2025 is co-produced by Ateliê de Artistas, also known for producing ‘Legally Blonde’. Also returning to the roles are Myra Ruiz as Elphaba and Fabi Bang as Glinda.
More good news for fans is that the Portuguese version of the text and lyrics, which are alive and well in the affective memory of the Wicked audience in Brazil, are still present. So get ready to sing the iconic songs “Desafiando a Gravidade”, “Ódio”, “O Mágico e Eu”, among other hits.
