For many vegans, going out to eat is an odyssey. After all, you have to find a restaurant that serves meat-free dishes, and when you do, there’s often only one option – like the blessed French fry. But fear not, veggies, for we now bring you the perfect tip for your trip: TAU COZINHA, a brand new restaurant where vegetables are the protagonists.
Opened in September 2024, the restaurant does not limit itself to the vegan label. Instead, the proposal goes much further: putting vegetables at the center of the menu, bringing creative and elaborate dishes that don’t need meat as the center of attention.
If you’re curious to try it, here’s a little more about TAU’s proposal, as well as the dishes you can’t miss. Check them out!
TAU COZINHA: get to know the place where vegetables take center stage
Many vegan dishes are actually meatless reinterpretations of originally carnivorous dishes. Who hasn’t heard of mushroom stroganoff ? Or feijoada with carrots?
As delicious as these adaptations are (we at São Paulo Secreto love them!), sometimes you just want to try a different, original dish. Well, that’s where TAU COZINHA differs from many veggie restaurants – here, you won’t find re-readings or adaptations. All the dishes are authentic, making the most of what each ingredient has to offer.
As such, each option on the menu has been carefully prepared by chefs Fábio Battistella and Gabriel Haddad. Since September 2024, both have been bringing an innovative approach to cooking, using techniques such as flavor pairing, which combines ingredients based on their flavors and aromas. In other words, you can expect tasty, unprecedented and flavor-balanced dishes.
Get to know the menu
TAU COZINHA’s menu makes reference to Japanese and French cuisine, always reflecting the creativity of its chefs. In this way, the haute cuisine dishes offer unique and inventive combinations that not only serve flavor, but also personality.
All options are, of course, free of animal ingredients. Among them is the Eryngui with Mousseline, a sophisticated combination of mushrooms, creamy mousseline and bok choy, a type of Chinese cabbage. Miso Pesto (photo) is an essential tip for those who enjoy pasta. After all, this combination of Japanese and Italian cuisine promises to delight all tastes and palates.
To drink, the house offers drinks that are just as creative. The Beetroot Aperol, for example, is a sophisticated reinterpretation of the Aperol Spritz, combining the traditional flavor with the drink with a distinctive touch of cooked beet.
The Bloody Mary , on the other hand, is made with green tomato juice (pictured) and crunchy kale. In other words, vegetables steal the show even in drinks!
