What to expect from “Tarsila’s Brazil”?
The project follows the trend of major international exhibitions—such as those dedicated to Van Gogh and Monet—and places the greatest painter of Brazilian modernism in the spotlight. There are more than 10 themed rooms, showcasing to the Brazilian public various works that defined Tarsila do Amaral’s career.
The idea isn’t just to admire paintings on the wall, but to walk right inside them. That’s why the exhibition digitally recreates around 60 of the painter’s iconic works, allowing the public to experience the art with all their senses:
- Large-scale technology: Immersiverooms with 360-degree projections, augmented reality, and interactive installations that reveal the painter’s creative process, created in partnership with digital artists.
- Access and democratization: Works that haven’t been seen in public exhibitions for years are being presented in a brand-new digital format, democratizing access to the artist’s collection.
- Sensory Journey: An original soundtrack and special scent effects guide the audience through the exhibits.

Curated by Paola do Amaral Montenegro—the artist’s great-grandniece and custodian of her legacy—and Juliana Miraldi—a sociologist and researcher in modern and contemporary art, with postdoctoral degrees from UFRRJ and Unicamp— the exhibition *Tarsila’s Brazil* combines rigorous historical research with cutting-edge technology to present one of the country’s leading painters in a way never before seen by the Brazilian public.
