On August 31, Ibirapuera Park will host another edition of RockFun Fest. Known as “the biggest free rock festival in São Paulo”, this year the event has announced paid tickets, which are already available for pre-sale. According to the organization, the change was due to a “turning point” in the festival, which will now feature national and international attractions. Even so, the decision generated controversy on the networks, with users unhappy with the change. Check out more below:
RockFun Fest 2024 will have tickets from R$ 275 to R$ 1250
Active since 2015, RockFun Fest is the only festival entirely dedicated to rock music in São Paulo. After almost ten years of success, in 2023 it became part of São Paulo’s official calendar of events, making official its importance to the city.
This year’s attractions have yet to be announced. However, we can get an idea of what’s coming next by checking out previous names who have already been on stage: Detonautas, Supercombo, Dinho Ouro Preto, Paulo Miklos and more. What’s more, based on the production information, we can expect foreign artists to come in 2024.

The first paid edition of the event is already available in ‘Blind Tickets’ mode, a kind of pre-sale, through the Ticket Master platform. The prices for the dance floor are R$ 275 (half-price) and R$ 550 (full-price), with a social ticket at R$ 342, for which it is necessary to donate 1 kg of food. The RockFun Lounge option, which gives access to the open bar and open food area, costs R$ 975 (half-price) and R$ 1250 (full-price), with social tickets costing R$ 1042. There is no convenience fee.

@paulo_juao: They managed to privatize the city’s biggest free festival
@rodri_sansilva: The festival went from 0 to 100 very quickly hahahaha
@julia.pantalhone: Create another name and charge for another tour, because it’s very bad to dirty the name of the biggest FREE rock festival in São Paulo….
@fernando_drummond89: Paying 1200.00 without knowing what you’re going to watch?
@luizpaulorodriguez012: Honestly, I understand investors and I know they have expenses. But to take a project that already had a name and years of editions and simply turn it into a paid festival is bizarre. The investors could create a new festival and not use a festival that has been running for years in São Paulo with the slogan of a free festival. Even more so with the tickets well overpriced. And no one even knows the line-up for this festival and they already want to charge a high price. It’s annoying to see that happen.
@ninapoiel: Is it serious? Will it cost R$600? What was free is gone now?
RockFun Fest warm-up continues free of charge
In addition, the event includes the ‘Esquenta RockFun Fest’, which will take place on July 13 in celebration of World Rock Day. On this occasion, Suicidal Tendendies, Oitão, Cali and other rock bands will perform at the Tietê Sports Center in Luz.
The Esquenta is still free, with tickets distributed free of charge on Sympla. However, tickets for this edition have already sold out.
