In March this year, one of São Paulo’s most iconic buildings was temporarily reopened to celebrate its centenary. Since then, various guided tours, parties and cultural activities, which are part of the ‘M100’ project, have been taking place there. However, the news of the Martinelli Building’s renovation and closure surprised São Paulo residents once again.
Since 2023, the Martinelli has been under concession by the Tokyo Group, under the supervision of Estúdio Sarasá, a specialist in historical restoration. It is expected that, after the renovation, the venue will receive around one million visitors a year.
Understanding the renovation of the Martinelli Building
The work, scheduled to begin in January, should transform the last four floors of the building into a multifunctional cultural complex. The project includes spaces for gastronomy, art, events, leisure and much more! In addition, some aesthetic and structural repairs to the façade will also be carried out.
From the 25th to the 28th floors, many changes will be implemented to make better use of the historic building. The comprehensive renovation is expected to last about a year and will contribute to the revitalization of São Paulo’s historic center, promoting the cultural and tourist occupation of the space.
Enjoy it before it’s over!
December is the last month to enjoy Martinelli’s parties. They take place on the 25th floor, where the bar and DJ are located, and also on the rooftop, offering a unique panoramic view of the city.
Until the 31st, several parties will be taking place there, including a New Year’s Eve celebration and seven others with different musical styles, ranging from Brazilian music to indie.
So, if you’ve always wanted to enjoy a tour of one of the capital’s most iconic buildings, be sure to visit the Martinelli Building before the renovation begins.
