Traveling by train has now become even more fun (and economical). That’s because the State Department of Tourism and Travel has just launched the São Paulo Rail Passport, a free document that connects travel lovers to the main tourist routes on rails.
The initiative is a real milestone for those who want to explore São Paulo’s history, landscapes and culture in a nostalgic and sustainable way. And the best part: users can get up to 20% off attractions. So, check out all the details and embark on this journey.
Passaporte Ferroviário São Paulo is an invitation to rediscover the state
With 14 attractions linked to rail tourism, the passport works like an interactive guide: just enter your name, city of origin and collect stamps at each stop.
The routes range from the classic CPTM Tourist Express to Paranapiacaba, Mogi das Cruzes and Jundiaí, to the charming Trem da República (Itu-Salto), Maria Fumaça from Campinas to Jaguariúna and Trem de Guararema.
In addition, travelers can also visit places such as the Jundiaí Railway Museum and the Monte Serrat Funicular System in Santos– all with guaranteed benefits when presenting their passport.
The idea is to turn every train trip into a complete journey, connecting stations to unique experiences in destinations with a strong local identity. For this reason, gastronomy, history, traditions and hospitality gain even more prominence when accessed by rail – bringing back the essence of travel in simpler times.
As Roberto de Lucena, State Secretary for Tourism, explains:
The passport is a playful way of stimulating regional tourism and moving local economies. It values railway culture and brings a new perspective on how to get around the state.”
In addition to discounts on tours, the stamps act as a personalized souvenir – an added incentive to visit all the sections of the program.
