Have you ever thought about having a movie experience in a swimming pool? That’s exactly what Sesc Vila Mariana is offering this weekend! The unprecedented event, called ‘PisCine: Festival de Cinema na Piscina’, promises a complete immersion for those who love movies and can’t do without a good swim.
So, if you were already thinking of going to the movies, how about escaping the obvious and enjoying this program? PisCine brings together award-winning feature films and special productions with water as the protagonist.

What’s on at PisCine?
This could be a film festival like any other, if it weren’t for the unusual detail: instead of armchairs, the audience watches the sessions from inside the pool! The idea is to watch great movies while swimming or simply relaxing in the water.
To take part, you need to undergo a free dermatological examination at Sesc itself, which can be done in advance on the day. Just arrive a few hours early, bring your swimsuit and a padlock for the changing room. If you prefer, you can also watch from outside the pool, without having to go through the examination.
But beware: places are limited and the activity is subject to capacity. Check out the program:
- August 23rd, at 3pm – The Adventures of Pi (Indicative rating: 10 years)
- August 23, at 6:30 p.m. – The Shape of Water (Rating: 16 years)
- August 24, at 3pm – Flow (Rating: Free)
- August 24, at 4:30 p.m. – Bizarre Fish from the Abyssal Trenches (Rating: 10 years)

Don’t miss out on PisCine!
The festival is free, but tickets must be picked up at the Sesc Vila Mariana Service Center two hours before each screening. And remember: you won’t be allowed to stay in the pool after the movies have finished.
Now all you have to do is choose your favorite session, secure your ticket and live this unique experience that mixes cinema and pool in one place. A real chance to dive headfirst into the world of cinema, literally!
